Podiatrist - Az: Corns

A corn is a location on the body that develops a hardened area because of repeated use and pressure which then eventually becomes so thick that the body fails to recognize it as part of the body and attacks it as a foreign body.

A corn is not a condition in and of itself. When a doctor sees a corn they know they need to treat the pain the corn is causing but they also know they need to treat the underlying problem. This problem is very often a deformity in the toe or foot, foot wear that is too tight, or an abnormal walk or run.

There is no way to treat them other than to decrease the pressure in the area. Phoenix, Arizona Podiatrists understand that the underlying problem must be fixed to relieve the pressure in the area. If the problem persists the body will eventually attack the corn and create an ulcer in the area. This is usually debilitating and too painful for any patient to endure.

A Podiatrist (AZ) will very often give special padding, orthotics and recommend new foot wear to combat the effects of a foot that has developed a corn. This takes time and corns should be treated early to prevent a severe case.
